Reading program was bound to be fun with volunteer help

Posted: Monday, August 15, 2005

This year a great group of volunteers made it possible for more children to enjoy the Kasilof Public Library's summer reading program than ever before.

Thanks to Amanda Chesley and her read-aloud talents, the participants were treated to Jeremy Thatchers' dragon hatching exploits as well as Chinese dragon kites and magical cookies.

Thanks to Alicia Kruse we had more than enough craft supplies and each session the kids were treated to wholesome snacks and juice.

Thanks to Anita (and Haylee) Hedger for the cookies they made and their donated cardboard to make our heraldry shields.

Thanks to Holly Pearson for her invaluable book-shelving help and plant maintenance, making the library a tidier place.

Thanks to Shellie Worsfold for the use of her cool sharpie pen collection and her words of encouragement.

Thank you to Rob Smithwick and the crew of Soldotna Pizza Boys for the always excellent pizzas we had at our finale party.

Thanks to Ed Kobak Jr. and his donation of ice cream for our party. What a nice surprise.

Because these folks care, the Kasilof Public Library was able to offer a richer, fun filled summer reading experience to the children of Kasilof.
