Bird Homestead Golf Report: Weather remains a mixed bag

What is the record amount of putts on one hole in a major event? Can you believe 156 putts? So don't go beating yourself up when you take three putts a hole.

Hello and welcome once again to the Bird Homestead weekly report. Sunshine, rain, sunshine, rain, not sure what it wants to do, but I know rain or shine the course is in fabulous shape and has been great for play.

Weekly events are still happening, with 12 men out for men's night on Tuesday, so come on out and join them. Tee-off is at 6:30. Seniors day is still on Wednesday at 11 a.m. A mix-match of folks, just a good morning for all. Don't forget our Thrifty Tuesdays, and now we have our Miser Mondays. Call and find out all the scoop at 260-4653 and come out and enjoy some great golf.

On Aug. 23, starting at 1 p.m., is the Bird Birthday Appreciation Tournament. It's a nine-hole event, with great fellowship afterward, and fun prizes and food. The cost is $35, so come out and sign up for this one.

Aug. 24 is a gentlemen-only tournament. It's also a nine-hole event with tee time starting at 2 p.m. Lots of prizes. The cost is $25. Call for more details.

The BIG Fall Classic is coming up. Yes, can you believe it is that time of year already? Aug. 30. Tee off at 9 a.m. Build your own team or jump in with someone else. All cash prizes and fun, fun, fun!!!! Stanley Ford is sponsoring a hole in one for this event. Come win a shiny new pickup. Cost for this event is $70 per player. If you want a cart, reserve one early as they go quickly for this tournament. Call the pro shop or come on out and get signed up,
