Clinic canceled

The Homer Public Health Center's immunization clinic for today is canceled. Clinics will be held Monday through Aug. 24 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. For more information, call (907) 235 8857.

Blood donations needed

The Blood Bank of Alaska is continuing its blood drive. The blood bank reports that August blood donations are low, leading to a potential blood shortage in Alaska. All blood types are important and every donation makes a difference. For more information, call the blood bank at 260-5672 or visit its office at the Blazy Mall in Soldotna.

Book signing scheduled

Alaska Heritage Day at the Kenai Visitor's and Convention Center will host Alaska writer Andromeda Romano-Lax, author of the new book "Alaska's Kenai Peninsula." A book signing will occur Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. with a discussion forum starting at 3 p.m. For more information, call 283-1991.

Summer program ending

The last day for Boys and Girls Clubs of the Kenai Peninsula Summer Program in Kenai is Friday. The Kenai Clubhouse will be closed Saturday through Sept. 3 for training. The school year program starts Sept. 4. Hours will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call 283-2682.

Victim information service updated

The Department of Corrections will give a presentation of new upgrades to the Victim Information Notification Everyday (VINE) system Tuesday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Kenai Police Department. VINE is a free, anonymous, computer-based service that provides crime victims formation on offender custody status. Callers also may choose to register for automatic notification when an offender is released. For more information, call Sue Ford at 283-3125.

Booth space available

Free booth space is available for Industry Appreciation Day. The event is Aug. 25 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Kenai Park Strip. No retail sales are permitted. For more information or to reserve a space, call 283-3855.

Art show scheduled

Planned Parenthood of Alaska announces the second annual Harvest Art Show Sept. 1-22 at the Kenai Fine Arts Center in Old Town Kenai. The show will showcase works of area artists in multimedia. There will be an open house Sept. 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. and the Gala Auction will be Sept. 22 from 7 to 9 p.m. For more information, contact Jackie or Jen at 262-2622.

Soup supper planned

The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank will hold its annual Soup Supper and Auction from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 7. The event will take place at the Soldotna Sports Center. Each dinner ticket includes a meal, entertainment, auction and the diner's choice of a unique handcrafted bowl to take home. For more information, call 262-3111.
