Area students named to dean's list

The following students recently were named to the dean's list at the University of Oregon: Jayme Rebecca Taylor of Kenai, senior anthropology major; Seth Arthur Tauriainen of Nikiski, senior physics major; and Roxane Elizabeth Kotzin of Soldotna, junior anthropology major.

To qualify for the list, students must be in good academic standing and must have completed 12 or more graded credits for the term. The required minimum grade point average is 3.75.

Area students awarded scholarships

Jeremy Ryan Kauffman of Kenai recently received a $8,490 scholarship for engineering and technology construction management, and Brittany Kay Gardner of Soldotna received a $5,604 scholarship for arts and sciences premedicine studies, both from the University of Nebraska.

Scholarships were awarded based on transfer grade point averages or on academic accomplishments in high school and admission test scores.

Krein graduates college with distinction


Sara Beth Stanley Krein

Sara Beth Stanley Krein of Kenai recently graduated with distinction from Trinity Western University in Langley British Columbia with a bachelor of science in nursing. Krein's grade point average was 3.66.

She is the daughter of Jim and Donna Krein and sister of Janna Krein.

Krein currently is studying abroad at the L'Abri Fellowship in Huemoz, Switzerland.
