Bird Homestead Golf Report

Another fun night for ladies

Posted: Tuesday, August 16, 2005

The winning team from last week's Ladies Night consisted of Kathy Herring and Marilyn Eskelin. Kathy Herring also got closest to the pin on No. 6. If you're a lady golfer and have not been out to our course for Ladies Night, for whatever reason, I would like to let you know that you are missing out on a great time with a great bunch of ladies.

We had a great turnout for Men's Night last week. We had five groups of three. The winning team consisted of Marty Radvansky, Shane Tachick and myself. Closest-to-the-pin honors on No. 8 went to Jared Daniels. Long drive was won by Roy Bird. Closest-to-the-pin money on hole No. 6 is still up for grabs and has been, for three weeks. Closest to the pin on No. 6 tonight could mean some serious cash flow!

The Fall Classic is starting to fill up fast, so hurry up and put your teams together while there's still time. The Fall Classic is Aug. 27 at 9 a.m. Contact the golf shop for more information at 260-4653.

Golf Tip Of The Week

When chipping, most golfers have what they call their favorite club around the green. No matter what type of shot they have, they use their favorite club. I don't recommend this method due to the fact that if you were chipping to a practice green with 10 pins, you would have to use 10 different swings. What I recommend deals with using one consistent stroke and controlling distance by changing clubs. To learn more about chipping and other aspects of the short game, contact me at the golf shop at 260-4653.
