Kenai resident Meghan McCord died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at Central Peninsula General Hospital, the same hospital she was born in. She was 25.
A private service is planned, but there will be an open house from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the McCord home. Call 262-9709 for more information.
Ms. McCord was educated at Soldotna Elementary, Cook Inlet Academy, Seward High School and Soldotna High School.
She worked as a certified nurse's aide at Wesley Nursing Home in Seward in 1996 and1997.
"Her personal life was a turmoil filled with the highs of two beautiful children, Alex, 8, and Ashton, 3, and the lows of substance abuse. Never mean to another soul, so accepting of all races, Meghan taught her family the need for unconditional love, tough love and forever love," her family wrote. "The pain of living with her is replaced by the pain of losing her, but we are all better people for having known and loved Meghan."
Ms. McCord is survived by her parents, Margie and Byron McCord; brother Seth McCord; sons Alex and Ashton; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of the Kenai Peninsula, 11247 Frontage Road, Kenai, AK 99611.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
