Matt Walton of Soldotna stands with the 305-pound halibut he caught Monday while fishing 15 miles out of Anchor Point.
The fish measured 90.5 inches long. Walton was fishing with friends Scott Overton of Kenai and Stuart Lorian and his son, Kevin Laurion, 13, of Soldotna. It took Walton 45 minutes to reel in the fish. No, he did not have a ticket for the Homer Jackpot Halibut Derby.
Fish of the week is a summer feature focusing on fish caught in peninsula waters. Photos do not have to be only of big fish. Family fishing photos are encouraged. Share your fishing adventure with readers by dropping off your photo at the Peninsula Clarion's Kenai office, 150 Trading Bay Road. E-mailed photos will be considered. Please include name, phone number, names of people in photo, and the date, size and location of the catch.
