ANCHORAGE (AP) The National Weather Service issued a flood warning Saturday for the Yentna River and its tributaries.
Last weekend's warm weather followed by persistent rain increased glacier melt in the Yentna River basin northwest of Wasilla. That caused water levels to substantially rise on the river and surrounding tributaries, the weather service said.
The Yentna near the Lake Creek confluence rose 3 1/2 feet over the past week.
By Saturday, river levels had reached the banks or beyond.
Rain Saturday was expected to cause minor flooding in the area.
The flood warning is in effect until 4 p.m. Sunday.
