Kenai resident Michael Joseph Gross died Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna. He was 66.
Private family services were held.
Mr. Gross was born Dec. 24, 1943, in Merced, Calif. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1963-68 during the Vietnam War. He moved to Alaska and lived in Barrow for seven years, where he worked for the Barrow Utilities and Electric Cooperative, Inc. He later moved to Kenai, where he lived for eight years.
"Michael would say 'Chaos is an order that we don't understand.' He was loved by all his friends in Alaska and will be missed by all who knew him," his family said.
Mr. Gross was preceded in death by his father, Oliver Joseph Gross; and a son, Sean Michael Gross.
He is survived by his daughter, Gwendolyn George of Cheltenham, England; son, Morgan Gross; grandsons, Gavin and Collin Scamp-Gross, all of Houston; mother, Elsie Smith Gross, of Ann Arbor, Mich.; brother, Stephen C. Gross of Vancouver; sisters, Olivia A. Gross, of Golden, Colo., Melinda Evans of Barnet, Vermont and Melissa Gross of Ann Arbor.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
