Boys and Girls Club plans closure

The Boys and Girls Club Kenai Clubhouse will be closed today through Friday. School year clubhouse starts Aug. 27. Registration is ongoing for youth from the first grade to age 12. The Teen Center will remain open. For more information, call the center at 283-3855 or Kimberli Dent at 398-2370.

KPC closure scheduled

Kenai Peninsula College's Kenai River Campus in Soldotna will be closed to the public today for faculty and staff meetings.

Agrium sets live fire training dates

Agrium Kenai Nitrogen Operations will conduct live fire training for its employees and the Nikiski Fire Department at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and additional sessions at 7:45 a.m. Thursdays through September at the plant at Mile 21 of the Kenai Spur Highway.

Propane, gasoline and diesel will be used in the training. Occasionally there will be smoke and open flames visible from the highway near the northwest corner of the plant.

Watercolors looking for homes

Triumvirate Theatre in the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna will host an art auction of watercolor work by Pam Mersch and Rube Tikka, who are leaving the Kenai Peninsula, from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. More than 30 paintings will be auctioned through outcry and silent auctions. Pieces are on display at the theater and book store. Golf tournament in full swing

The 10th annual Ninilchik Native Descendants' Golf Tournament will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Birch Ridge Golf Course. Funds from the tournament will be used to raise scholarship money for Ninilchik graduates. For more information, call Dan Leman at 567-3361.
