Beginning Day to occur

Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi is hosting Beginning Day at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna, August 29, 2010 at 1:00 PM. Beta Sigma Phi members in the area are invited to attend. RSVP is necessary, to Gwen Preston at (907)260-2052 or at jgpreston@acsalaska.net.

Freedom Walk to be held

Come show your support for our troops and veterans past and present and remember 9/11. The walk will be held Saturday September 11th at 10am at the Soldotna Church of God. Registration is free.

Pre-register online at operationhomefront.net or registration will be available at 8:30am at the church before the walk begins. Bikes, scooters and strollers are welcome.

Free t-shirts to be given to the first 150 people to register. Donations will be accepted. All proceeds will go to Operation Homefront for Alaskan military families. For more information contact Rebeka at 398-1415.

Kids welcome to gather

Every first and third Sunday of every month, seventh- through 12th-graders are invited to hang out at the Peninsula Grace Brethren Church youth center from 6 to 8 p.m. to showcase their talent from singing to beatboxing and poetry, or simply to hang out and enjoy a beverage from its coffee shop.

Study, fellowship, worship set

Saint Luke Lutheran Church offers several faith strengthening opportunities during the week. The parish's Wednesday 10:30 a.m. fellowship/study is focusing on Leviticus. We attempt to cover one chapter a session and meet at 48095 Andrews Avenue for approximately one hour.

Our Wednesday evening activities take place at the Parish Hall, 43055 Kenai Spur Highway, and consist of a potluck fellowship, Vespers Service and detailed analysis of basic Christian doctrine, currently focusing on the Holy Spirits work in directing the Christian life.

Bible study live or online

A King James Bible study group meets at 7 p.m. on Thursdays on East Echo Lake Road in Soldotna and also offers 'live' teachings on Skype video. For more information, call 262-3507 or e-mail kingjamesbiblystudy@gmail.com.

Saturday Bible study on tap

The Nikiski Nazarene Church will hold a Bible study on Esther at 9:30 a.m. Saturdays at the church at Mile 18 of the Kenai Spur Highway. It is open to all women.

Clothes Quarters open

The Clothes Quarters located at Our Lady of the Angels at 225 South Spruce Street in Kenai is open from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Wednesdays and from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. the first Saturday of each month. For more information,

Recovery program offered

The Lighthouse Community Church will hold Recovery Now, a scripturally based recovery program, at 7 p.m. Fridays. The program is for anyone who is or has dealt with addiction. For more information, call 252-6445.

Thrift store open

The Lighthouse Community Church thrift store, The Sandbox, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The store is in the office building next to the church in Nikiski.

Clothes ministry ongoing

The Clothes 4 U Ministry offers free clothing to benefit the community. The ministry is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at First Baptist Church Soldotna Mission House at 119 Little Ave. in Soldotna. For more information, call 260-4806.

Woman's Aglow plans events

Study of Esther by Beth Moore is held at 10 a.m., Fellowship begins at 9 a.m. Childcare provided and all faiths are welcome.

Women invited to gather

EnLa Gloria Ministries invites women seeking God to a Ladies Night Out. It meets at 6:30 p.m. Mondays at 818 Cook Avenue in Old Towne Kenai across from the Oilers Bingo Hall.

Training on Mission Work

Come hear first hand experiences of foreign and local mission work in Alaska, the southern states and Central America. Learn how you can walk out the call on your life to enter the harvest field here at home or away.

This is an opportunity to join a team to go or just learn ways to support an all denominational organization serving rural Alaska, southern states and Mexico. The training will be held at the Nikiski New Hope Christian

Fellowship Milepost 23 in Nikiski. Friday August 20th 6:30pm-8:30 pm and Saturday August 21st, 9:00 am-2:00 pm. Bring a sack lunch.

Garage sale at Peninsula Grace Bretherent

Peninsula Grace Brethren will be hosting a free garage sale where all item collected will be given away for free. Come by Mile 19.5 Kalifornsky Beach Road Aug. 28th from 9 am to 4pm to get some free necessities for you and your family or just come by for free popcorn and conversation. Donations are still being collected so gather your gently used stuff i.e. clothing, school supplies, furniture and all other usefull items and Contact Morgyn or nicole at 907-252-3614 or Nicole@peninsulagrace.org for drop off times.

Fifth Sunday Community Worship Service

A 5th Sunday Community Worship Service will take place Sunday, August 29th,
