KALTAG (AP) -- A 64-year-old Kaltag man has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a friend.
Alaska State Troopers said William Peter shot 47-year-old Ronald Madros with a 20-gauge shotgun Friday night.
Troopers said Madros was visiting Peter that evening and the two men were drinking.
About 10 p.m., Peter asked Madros to leave. When Madros refused, Peter got out his shotgun, fired a round out the door, then came back inside and shot Madros.
Troopers said Peter admitted he shot Madros because he was angry with him for not leaving.
Peter was being held at the Fairbanks Correctional Center on $500,000 bail.
Kaltag is about 330 miles west of Fairbanks on the Yukon River.
