Food Bank dishes out praise to those who help the hungry

Posted: Thursday, August 21, 2003

The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank wishes to thank the Funny River Chamber of Commerce Community Association for its monetary contributions allowing our 12 residents of the Funny River Road area to prepare delicious food products served regularly in our soup kitchen. The volunteers, commonly known as the Funny River Ladies, serve fantastic biscuits and gravy usually once a month. This group has been helping us for more than three years as we serve an average of more than 1,750 meals per month to adults and children.

Without help like these dedicated volunteers and monetary support from organizations such as the Funny River Chamber of Commerce Community Association, the food bank could not serve an average of 1,766 meals per month in our soup kitchen.
