Archie Junior Gilliam
Kenai resident Archie Junior Gilliam died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, due to cancer at his home. He was 63.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Gilliam was born Oct. 20, 1942 to John and Jesse Gilliam in Urainia, La., where he graduated from high school. He furthered his education by enrolling in an oil-related school and receiving technical training as a valve technician. Mr. Gilliam was in the U.S. Air Force until he was honorably discharged.
He moved to Alaska on Oct. 13, 1991, where he worked at Ilsco and contracted work with Agrium, Phillips and Peak Oilfield Companies. He was most recently employed with the GLM Corp. in Kenai.
Mr. Gilliam enjoyed building and driving dune buggies and liked riding them on the beach. He also enjoyed fishing and hanging out with friends while they sang karaoke.
Mr. Gilliam was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jesse Gilliam.
He is survived my his wife of 44 years, Mary L. Gilliam of Kenai; sons, Randy L. Gilliam Sr. and Jon D. Gilliam, both of Kenai; daughter, Julee Ann Clarke of Juneau; brother, Johnny M. Gilliam of Olla, La.; grandchildren, Linda M. Gilliam of Anchorage, Randy L. Gilliam Jr. of Kenai, Brian K. Street of Juneau, Brad P. Street of Juneau; two great-grandchildren of Kenai; and numerous family members in Olla and central Louisiana.
Memorial donations may be sent in memory of Archie Gilliam to 103 Paula St. Kenai, AK 99611.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
