Former Funny River resident Margaret Frances Wilson died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at her home in Sour Lake, Texas. She was 83.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, Aug. 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Broussard Mortuary, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze, Texas. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at First Baptist Church of Sour Lake. Rev. Ken Ellzey will officiate.
Mrs. Wilson was born July 13, 1925, in Mesquite, Texas to David Alexander and Suda Viola (Ferris) Perew. She was a graduate of Nome High School.
"Frances had a great passion and love for her family and friends. She and her husband, Frank, loved to travel and upon retirement did exactly that. In 1985, they happened upon Alaska and spent 22 of the most wonderful years of their life there. After Frank's death in 2007, she moved back to Sour Lake to be close to her family. Frances also had a great passion for music, especially country, gospel, and cajun. She also collected cookie jars and had over 400 cookie jars at her home in Alaska. Her memory will be cherished by her many friends in Texas and Alaska where she and Frank spent 22 years of retirement," her family said.
Mrs. Wilson is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 65 years, Frank E. Wilson; and brother, Thomas Perew.
She is survived by her children, Elaine Lusk and her husband, Frank, of Sour Lake and Terry Wilson and his wife, Rita, of Tarkington Prairie; brother, Floyd Perew of Silsbee; and grandchildren, Rhonda Bourland of Floresville, Texas, Gary Lusk of Sour Lake, and Terryn Strahan of Keller, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church of Sour Lake Building Fund, P.O. Box 537, Sour Lake, Texas 77659 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements were made with Broussard Mortuary.
