KODIAK (AP) -- A person was killed and two others seriously injured after falling off a cliff on Near Island late Monday, according to Kodiak city police.

Police said an adult woman died, and that an adult man and a juvenile female were hurt.

On Tuesday police would not identify any of the people involved in the incident.

The two survivors were ferried from the beach at Near Island in skiffs provided by the Kodiak harbormasters office to St. Paul Harbor, and then taken by ambulance to Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center.

Police said they believe alcohol might have been involved in the incident, which occurred around midnight.

Police said they received calls at about 12:30 a.m. that someone was yelling for help at Near Island.
