Homer resident Erna May Kloster died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at South Peninsula Hospital Long Term Care in Homer. She was 77.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sept. 8 at Long Term Care in Homer. Mrs. Kloster's ashes will be scattered at Lake Tahoe, Nev. Friends and family are welcome to call Paul Kloster at (907) 336-7769 in Anchorage.
She was born in Dodge City, Kan. Prior to her retirement to Homer to be with her sons Paul and Terry in 1987, she had served as a nurse in various hospitals in Kansas. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, cooking and visiting the elderly. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church.
Her family said, "Our mother cared deeply for people and demonstrated this quality through her work, her church, her hobbies and her life."
Mrs. Kloster was preceded in death by two sons, Gary Elliott of Fairborne, Ohio, and James Elliott of Kansas City, Mo. She is survived by her children, Sonny Elliott of Reno, Nev., Diane Schmidt of Redding, Calif., Cora Blankenship of Tulsa, Okla., Terry Elliott of Homer and Paul Kloster of Anchorage. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by the Homer Funeral Home.
