Teacher affirmation, children's services to be held
Clyde and Marcy Selby and their colorful team of puppets will perform at the Peninsula Christian Center from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday. This service promises something for kids of all ages and adults too. Peninsula Christian Center is located behind the Salvation Army store in Soldotna.
Peninsula Christian Center will host the fifth annual Teacher Affirmation Service at 6 p.m. Sunday. This year's speaker will be Messiah College professor and cross-country coach Dale Fogelsanger.
Professor Fogelsanger teaches biology at the Grantham, Penn., school. Brandon Newbould, 2000 Soldotna High School graduate and Messiah College cross-country team member, also will participate in the service. This service will include special music from area teachers and a cake reception afterward for all teachers.
Peninsula Christian Center is at the corner of Cohoe and Farnsworth behind the Salvation Army store in Soldotna.
Bible study groups planned
Precept Bible Study will meet Thursdays at 1 p.m. at the Soldotna Bible Chapel library starting Aug. 29. Darlene Rozak will lead the class in studying Hebrews. Anyone wishing to join should call her at 262-7172 to reserve a book.
Another Precept Bible Study will take place Wednesdays at 1 p.m. and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. at Kasilof Community Church starting Wednesday. For more information, call 283-9235.
Ministry offers 'Direct Line 2 God'
The New 2 U clothing ministry, a service ministry of the First Baptist Church of Soldotna, meets the first and third Saturday of every month. Part of the ministry includes a 12-hour-a-day, every day prayer ministry, "Direct Line 2 God." To participate in the ministry, call Joy at 262-0641.
Writers sought for faith anthology
Writers from Alaska are invited to share their own experiences of the power of prayer and faith in an anthology to be published in the latter half of 2003.
The anthology, "A Matter Of Faith," is being compiled by Arrowhead Publishing to provide examples of the positive power of prayer. Writers are invited to submit essays of up to 750 words that share their own experiences of how their faith has helped them meet major challenges in the journey through life.
Those whose works are selected will share in the royalties from book sales.
