As recent first time visitors to Alaska in July my wife, Victoria, and I want to express our appreciation for the weather, scenery, and especially all the wonderful people of Soldotna.
Unfortunately, on the fourth day of our fishing trip my wife broke her leg. Pam Gillham of the Golden Eagle Charters stabilized her leg, loaded her into the Subaru and off to the hospital we went. We received the best of care at the Central Peninsula Hospital that one could ever hope for. From the emergency room staff, Orthopedic Surgeon, and nurses to the housekeeping staff the care was supurb. The Orthopedic Surgeon operated the same evening we came in and the next day we were on our way.
Alan and Miriam Humphries of the Kenai River Hideaway bed and breakfast arranged for us to stay two extra day in order for my wife to recuperate.
Broken leg and all, this was one of the best vacations we have even taken because we got to experience the "can do" attitude and helpfulness of the Alaskan people.
Thank you one and all. We shall be back.
