KOTZEBUE (AP) -- A Bellingham, Wash. man was killed in an accident Wednesday night at the Red Dog Mine port near Kotzebue, Alaska State Troopers said.
John Goodwin, 43, was working aboard a barge when a tow line broke. The line struck Goodwin, killing him. The accident occurred shortly after 8 p.m. as a tug boat was towing the barge to shore.
Goodwin worked for Seattle-based Foss Maritime. He had been in Alaska for two weeks. Troopers said Foss Maritime is assisting with the investigation.
