E-mail not Christian-like

Letter to the Editor

Recently I was sent an e-mail by a Christian concerning a new store, Pye Wackets, that opened up on the peninsula. The e-mail reads that Pye Wackets is a witchcraft store and that we should pray to have it shut down. As Christians, we are taught that witchcraft is evil and a sin.

Well, evil or not, sin or not, I don't think it's very Christian-like to pray to cause harm on someone just because they don't believe the same things we do. In that position I would not pray to have the store shut down but instead pray for the owners to have a change of heart and that Jesus would touch their lives.

Technically I am a Christian, I believe in God, I believe Jesus was the Messiah, and I believe he died on the cross to save me from my sins, but I don't personally think that the subject of "witchcraft" is as black and white as good and evil. So I recognize myself as a Christian, but I also recognize myself as an American and as an American I believe everyone has the right to their opinions and their beliefs.

I just thought I'd publicly apologize for that e-mail. I did not write it, but I did read it and for that I am sorry. We are all people here, and we all deserve the same rights.
