Food bank to hold raffle fund-raiser

The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank is selling raffle tickets for an opportunity to win two round-trip tickets to Hawaii. The drawing will be at the seventh annual Soup Supper and Auction on Sept. 5 at the Soldotna Sports Center. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased from any board member or by calling Cindy at 262-3111.

Free developmental screening offered

WRCC to hold board meeting

The Women's Resource and Crisis Center will hold its monthly board meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the center.

Final motocross race scheduled

The Kenai Peninsula Racing Lions will hold its final motocross races of the season at noon Saturday and Sunday at the Twin Cities Race Track. Registration begins at 10 a.m., with open practice beginning at 11 a.m. For more information, call Wendy at 260-3305.

Final week for beautification nominations

The Homer Chamber of Commerce and Kachemak Bay Board of Realtors are sponsoring a Community Beautification Awards program. Nominations are due by Sept. 1 and must include the name, the location or address of the nominee and the category for which it's being submitted.

The contest categories are: most attractive business, most attractive residence, most improved, most creative and judges' choice. Winners will be judged the first week in September and announced at the chamber lunch Sept. 23. KCHS to raffle off quilt

The Kenai Central High School football boosters are selling raffle tickets for a handmade quilt. The drawing will take place Sept. 20 at the homecoming game. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased from any booster member. For more information, call 335-0123.

Donations for stem cell testing sought

The Blood Bank of Alaska stem cell drive was successful and resulted in more donors than expected. It has exceed the funding sources for processing the stem cell donations. Residents interested in making a monetary donation to help cover the cost can call the Blood Bank of Alaska Kenai Peninsula Center at 260-5672.
