State fair competition results announced

The following are the results of several competitions at the Kenai Peninsula State Fair, held in Ninilchik earlier this month.

Parade: Kenai Kennel Club, group; Robert Welch, individual; Beth White, automobile; USAF Band of the Pacific Alaska Brass, float; and Trailblazers 4-H of Ninilchik, horse.

Round hauling: Vienna Schmitter of Soldotna, 0- to 8-year-olds; Mia Chay of Kenai, women's youth; Stephanie Lambe of Kasilof, wo-men's junior; Whitney Leman of Ninilchik, women's senior; Gradey Iverson of Soldotna, men's youth; John Chihuly of Ninilchik, men's junior; and Gary Deiman of Ninilchik, men's senior.

Arm wrestling: Kaitlin Cashman of Homer, women's youth; Amethyst Cousins of Homer, women's junior; Whitney Leman of Ninilchik, women's senior; Damian Collum, men's youth; Matt Rice of Soldotna, men's junior; and Mike Wetherbee of Ninilchik, men's senior.

Most blue ribbons: Barb Moore.

Best of show: Finely Bock, Native art.

Lumberjack: Buddy Risinger, first, Dustin Fultz, second, and Kris Tilgner, third, accuracy; Brian Corey, first; Kelly Curtiss, second, and Chuck Minium, third, speed; and Brian Corey, combined champion.

Fish Olympics: Matt Karron, first, Jeff Gardner, second, and A.J. Berger, third, filleting; Tim Keeney, first, and Jeff Gardner, second, lure casting; and Matt Karron, first, Mr. Matia, second, and Jeff Rickard, third, humpy hurl.
