ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A China Eastern jet remained on the ground in Anchorage for nearly 24 hours after it landed in Anchorage with mechanical problems.

The MD-11 touched down at 6:30 p.m. Friday after taking off from Los Angeles.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the airliner's destination was Pudong near Shanghai.

Passengers told KTUU-TV they were kept on the jet seven hours. They spent the night at an Anchorage hotel.

U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Texas, was among the passengers.

The jet took off again for China shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday, according to the FAA.
