ANCHORAGE (AP) -- The body of a man was recovered Sunday evening from beneath the pier at the Port of Anchorage.

The body was found at about 7 p.m. by a longshoreman, police said.

The body appeared to be that of a man in his 30s, said Sgt. Ray Jennings.

''We did find ID on the subject, but pending the coroner's confirmation, we can't release it,'' Jennings said.
