Zachary was born Dec. 29, 1987, in Anchorage. He attended Sears Elementary, Mountain View Elementary and Soldotna High School.

Zachary enjoyed many community activities, sprint and stock car racing and sports events with a lot of enthusiasm. He also enjoyed the American flag, money, computers, Christmas, pictures, Crash Banjo Tooie, Donkey Kong and the Muppets.

“Dear Zachary, we feel sad, for we have lost you. We feel happy, for what we have had with you. We feel poor, for the empty spaces that you once had filled. We feel rich, for all you have taught each one of us. We will cry, because we miss you daily. We will laugh, for the memories abound. We will hurt, for the love we can’t give you. We will rejoice, for the love we have received from you. We will be restless, for our lives are not whole. We will be peaceful, for we know it is not forever. We love you, Buddie,” his family wrote.

Zachary was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Patricia McKenzie and Linda Witt.

He is survived by his father, Larry McKenzie of Soldotna; foster mom, Koreena Ortiz of Soldotna; Koreena’s daughters and Zachary’s caregivers, Krystal Walden and family of Soldotna, Kandi Barcus and family of Anchorage and Koral Hostetter and family of Soldotna; grandfather, Ronald McKenzie of Soldotna; uncle, Richard McKenzie and family of Aztec, N.M.; aunt, Crystal Jackson and family of Anchorage; biological mother, Daughn Carpenter of Soldotna; sister, Samantha Eisenman of Arizona; brother, Benjamin Stalker of Soldotna; grandparents, Max Carpenter and Linda Spear of Wyoming and Patsey Carpenter of Idaho; and many special friends and a large extended family.
