Hospital plans board meeting

Soldotna library hosts open house
Joyce K. Carver Memorial Library in Soldotna is hosting an open house from noon to 5 p.m. Friday in honor of employee Kitty Galley, who has worked at the library for 16 years and is relocating. The public is invited and refreshments will be served.
Historical board to meet
The Soldotna Historical Society Board of Directors will hold its monthly meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday at the main museum building on Centennial Park Road. It is open to the public.
Rec center has ways for kids to burn energy
The Kenai Recreation Center will offer home school hour from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Fridays starting Sept. 6. The fee is $1 per child. Tot Time will be available from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays beginning Sept. 5. For more information, call 283-3855.
Challenger Center hosts open house
The Challenger Learning Center of Alaska in Kenai will hold an open house from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 9 in honor of the 20th anniversary of the Challenger disaster. NASA astronaut Ken Reightler will be the special guest. Children can build and launch their own rockets. Tours also will be available.
Hospice training scheduled
Hospice of the Central Peninsula will hold training classes from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 16, 17, 19, 23 and 24 and from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 21 and 28. It is open to the public. For more information, call 262-0453.
Library issues toy warning
The Kenai Community Library asks parents to return any bendable dog and cat toys to the library that were given away this summer during the Summer Reading Program. The toys may contain unsafe levels of lead. State health officials issued a consumer health alert regarding the toys. For more information, call the library at 283-4378.
