Tribal-state safety forum planned
The Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault is sponsoring a tribal-state forum on safety and justice today and Tuesday at the Soldotna Aspen Hotel. This free two-day training is available to providers of health care, behavioral health care and social services, victim advocates, law enforcement officers, tribal officers, tribal elders and others interested in making our communities and villages safer through the prevention and reduction of incidences of intimate partner violence.

Scouting information nights set
The Boys Scouts of America will hold Cub Scout information nights at 7 p.m. at the following schools: Tuesday at Soldotna Elementary; Wednesday at Mountain View Elementary; Sept. 11 at Nikiski North Star Elementary and Tustumena Elementary; Sept. 12 at Redoubt Elementary; and Sept. 13 at Sterling Elementary.

Cheer camp slated
North Peninsula Recreation and Nikiski High School cheerleaders will hold a cheerleading camp for youth in grades second through sixth. The camp will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Sept. 12 through 14 at Nikiski North Star Elementary School. Coach Tesa Sturman and the NHS cheerleaders will prepare participants for a performance during halftime of Nikiski's home game on the Sept. 15. Registration forms are available at NCRC or the Nikiski pool.

College council meeting scheduled
