Kenai Christian Church Women's Ministry to Hold Classes

Kenai Christian Church Women's Ministray will hold Thursday morning classes at 9 a.m. and evening classes at 6 p.m. starting on September 9. The church will have Saturday classes at 9:30 p.m. starting September 11, and Wednesday evening classes at 7 p.m. starting September 29. Go to www.kenaichristianchurch.net for more information.

Beginning Day to occur

Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi is hosting Beginning Day at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna, August 29, 2010 at 1:00 PM. Beta Sigma Phi members in the area are invited to attend.

Funny River Church of Christ: Gospel Meeting

The Funny River Rd. Church of Christ (mile 1/4) will be hosting a gospel meeting with guest speaker hugh DeLong from Arizona starting Sunday August 29th and running every weeknight through Friday night September 3rd. Sunday services are 10AM and again Sunday night at 6pm. Services start on the weeknights at 7:30pm Monday through Friday. All are welcome to attend! Come study with us!

Lutheran Church holding Soup Supper, Auction

Members from the South Alaska Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans are volunteering at the 14th Annual Soup Supper & Auction to help the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. The activity will be held on Saturday, August 28th at 5:30 PM at Kenai Central High School.

The fundraiser includes live and silent auction items plus a soup can raffle. Auction items include a trip for 2 to the proposed Pebble Mine, Alaska Railroad round trip tickets for two from Anchorage to Fairbanks, photography sessions, quilts, dinner for 50, artwork, and many other items,

Freedom Walk to be held

Come show your support for our troops and veterans past and present and remember 9/11. The walk will be held Saturday September 11th at 10am at the Soldotna Church of God. Registration is free. Pre-register online at operationhomefront.net or registration will be available at 8:30am at the church before the walk begins. Bikes, scooters and strollers are welcome. Free t-shirts to be given to the first 150 people to register! Donations will be accepted. All proceeds will go to Operation Homefront for Alaskan military families. Kids welcome to gather

Every first and third Sunday of every month, seventh- through 12th-graders are invited to hang out at the Peninsula Grace Brethren Church youth center from 6 to 8 p.m. to showcase their talent from singing to beatboxing and poetry, or simply to hang out and enjoy a beverage from its coffee shop. Study, fellowship, worship set

Saint Luke Lutheran Church offers several faith strengthening opportunities during the week. The parish's Wednesday 10:30 a.m. fellowship/study is focusing on Leviticus. We attempt to cover one chapter a session and meet at 48095 Andrews Avenue for approximately one hour.

Our Wednesday evening activities take place at the Parish Hall, 43055 Kenai Spur Highway, and consist of a potluck fellowship, Vespers Service and detailed analysis of basic Christian doctrine, currently focusing on the Holy Spirits work in directing the Christian life.

Bible study

Clothes Quarters open

The Clothes Quarters located at Our Lady of the Angels at 225 South Spruce Street in Kenai is open from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Wednesdays and from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. the first Saturday of each month. For more information, call 283-9371 or 283-4555.

Recovery program offered

The Lighthouse Community Church will hold Recovery Now, a scripturally based recovery program, at 7 p.m. Fridays. The program is for anyone who is or has dealt with addiction. For more information, call 252-6445.

Thrift store open

The Lighthouse Community Church thrift store, The Sandbox, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The store is in the office building next to the church in Nikiski.

Clothes ministry ongoing

The Clothes 4 U Ministry offers free clothing to benefit the community. The ministry is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at First Baptist Church Soldotna Mission House at 119 Little Ave. in Soldotna. For more information, call 260-4806.

Soldotna Day Aglow bible study to occur

The Focus will be on what is love and how to put it into action. The study will be held at Peninsula Christian Center behind the Salvation Army in Soldotna beginning Wed, Sept 8th. Meeting every Wednesday, coffee and fellowship at 9:30AM, meeting starts at 10:00AM. Child care provided. Aglow is an interdenominational group of caring women.

Training on Mission Work

Come hear first hand experiences of foreign and local mission work in Alaska, the southern states and Central America. Learn how you can walk out the call on your life to enter the harvest field here at home or away. This is an opportunity to join a team to go or just learn ways to support an all denominational organization serving rural Alaska, southern states and Mexico. The training will be held at the Nikiski New Hope Christian Fellowship Milepost 23 in Nikiski. Friday August 20th 6:30pm-8:30 pm and Saturday August 21st, 9:00 am-2:00 pm. Bring a sack lunch. FREE garage sale!

Yes, Peninsula Grace Brethren will be hosting a free garage sale where all item collected will be given away for free. Come by mile 19.5 Kalifornsky Beach Road. Peninsula Grace Church Aug. 28th from 9 am to 4pm to get some free necessities for you and your family or just come by for free popcorn and conversation.
