Soldotna chamber to hold meeting

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will hold its weekly luncheon on Tuesday at noon at the Riverside House Restaurant in Soldotna. The speaker will be Barrette Hatches, president of Enstar.

Peterson to speak to Homer chamber

The Homer Chamber of Commerce will hold a lunch meeting on Tuesday at the Homer Elks Lodge at noon.

Speaking will be Dr. Donna Peterson, superintendent of the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District. Peterson will give an update on the school district and explain the impact of districtwide decisions on the schools in the community. Other guests include the following principals: Ron Keffer of Homer High school, Gregg Wilbanks of Chapman Elementary, Glen Szymoniak of Homer Middle School (previously at McNeil), Peter Swanson of McNeil Canyon Elementary, Rich Troymill from Paul Banks Elementary and Rick Ladd of West Elementary.

Volunteers needed for training program

The Dislocated Worker Entrepreneur Training Program, a program of the Peninsula Job Center, is seeking volunteer mentors willing to help with business idea development and startup.

Business Opportunities Network session planned

Business Opportunities Network will hold a free session Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. at the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna.

The session is for people interested in pursuing self-employment who do not have a business idea; people considering a business idea who have not established feasibility; and people in business who want to become part of a business network to broaden their business knowledge. Area entrepreneurs will be on hand to share their experiences.

AKC agility match scheduled

The Kenai Kennel Club will hold an agility sanction match Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. outdoors at the Soldotna Sports Center. The judge is Cindy Mildbrand. Entry fees are $10 for the first class and $5 for subsequent classes. Entries close at noon Sept. 6 and go to show secretary Wendy Nickel.
