Old-timers have a good time

Posted: Tuesday, August 28, 2007

Once again an exuberant crowd of old-timers met for lunch at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center.

From the sound of the chatter, the sight of all the hugs and the level of laughter, everyone was having a great time.

This luncheon often is the only time some oldsters get to visit with each other over the year, and they love to talk about the "good old days."

We want to thank Rachael Craig and her staff at the senior center for all the extra work and time they give us. Serving a full turkey dinner to over 200 rowdy old folks is not an easy task.

Thanks to Joanna Hollier for being the drill sergeant, Donnis Thompson for her quiet listing to those who have "Crossed the Bar," Jean Brockel's wonderful voice and Jim Evenson and Dan Grant with their bluegrass music.

For those who missed this year, watch for the notice next year. It will happen around the middle of August again.
