HEA seeks new board member: Kenai-North Kenai seat vacant

Posted: Thursday, August 28, 2008

The Homer Electric Association is seeking applicants to replace Kenai-North Kenai District board member Mike Nugent, who resigned.

To fill the unexpired term of office, the HEA board of directors will appoint a replacement chosen from among eligible applicants, according to spokesman Joe Gallagher.

Applicants must be HEA members and be bona fide residents within District 1, which generally includes all of Kenai, Nikiski, part of Soldotna and part of Kasilof. Specific boundaries are available on the HEA Web site or by calling HEA's executive assistant, Susan Saxton in Homer at 907-235-3356.

Nugent, who is leaving the state for another job, was elected to the HEA board last year. His term expires in May 2010.

People interested in applying, may pick up an application packet at the HEA office in Kenai or the office in Homer. Applications are due back by 5 p.m. Sept. 4.

Gallagher said the board plans to interview qualified applicants beginning at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 8, and make its selection.
