According to Roxanne Sinz, manager of Public Affairs for Unocal Alaska, a drilling rig is being moved to the Ivan River pad, on the Susistna Flats, between August 24th and September 7th. The standing derrick is approximately 150 feet tall and is equipped with continuously running red flashing beacons at the crown section. The area is a popular duck hunting area, "That's why we have come out with a safety announcement so that everyone is aware of the presence of the rig and will stay out of harms way," said Sinz. The rig is only scheduled to be at the Ivan River pad for approximately two weeks during the dates of August 24th-September 7th. The presence of the rig will not effect hunting or wildlife in that area.
