Longtime Soldotna resident Martha Mae Reedy died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, at her home surrounded by family, friends and loved ones after an extended illness. She was 87.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at Peninsula Memorial Chapel. Pastor Chuck Thornton will officiate the service. Following the memorial services, she will return to Roy, N.M., and be reunited with those who preceded her in the family plot.
Ms. Reedy was born April 29, 1916, in Deadman, N.M. She moved and took up permanent residence in Soldotna in 1968. She worked for many years as a cook at the 4 Royal Parkers in Soldotna before retiring.
Ms. Reedy enjoyed gardening, watching Alaska wildlife and taking many adventures in and out of Alaska. She was a friend to all she met and enjoyed sharing stories of her life and childhood and the many adventures she enjoyed with her family.
She was a patriotic supporter of the Disabled American Veterans and those still serving. She consistently displayed deep personal gratitude for their sacrifice and service. Ms. Reedy supported local community charities.
Ms. Reedy was preceded in death by her father, James Isaac Malone; mother, Sally Amanda Kincannon-Malone; brother, James D. Malone; sister, Louise Chatlain; and lifelong significant other, Howard Williamson.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wesley D. and Aileen McBride of Huntington Beach, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Rick Wood and their children, Michelle Grigley, Jennifer Wood, Allison Denton and Lindsey Wood of Casa Grande, Ariz.; sister, Velma Moore of Tucson, Ariz.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Arrangement were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
