Vinnie Cioffi to perform Sunday

Peninsula Christian Center will host musician-singer Vinnie Cioffi at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday

Cioffi travels extensively throughout the United States playing guitar and singing in a contemporary pop style and has done international mission concerts.

Back-to-school barbecue planned

The Edge youth church of Peninsula Christian Center is having a back-to-school barbecue at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Youth pastor Mike Butler invites all teens in grades seven to 12 to participate and bring a friend.

Besides food, there will be games, prizes and fun. The center is behind the Salvation Army store on the Kenai Spur Highway in Soldotna. For more information call 262-7416.

Women's Bible study offered

The women's ministry of Kenai Christian Church is offering a women's group Bible study beginning Thursday. Sessions will be Thursdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Holy Spirit study begins Thursday

Kenai First Baptist Church will offer a 12-week study titled "Life in the Spirit" beginning Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

The study, which deals with better understanding the Holy Spirit, continues through Dec. 4. Child care is provided.

'This Hope' to perform in concert

"This Hope," a group of five male singers from the Kenai Peninsula, will present a concert Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Renee C. Henderson Auditorium at Kenai Central High School.

Soldotna High School graduates Daniel Johnson, Dave Inabnit, Tim Inabnit, Jeanne Bope and Mikah Boudreaux make up the group, which has been singing contemporary gospel music for more than 10 years. Admission is $12 and tickets are available at Master's Vineyard, Beemun's and Good Books and More and at the door.

The group's latest release, "Acappella Hymns," highlights familiar hymns and is accented by orchestration or Boudreaux's keyboard background music.

Friendship closet open Wednesdays

The Aurora Heights Assembly of God "Friendship Closet" is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays to meet people's clothing needs.

The clothing closet is located at the church on the corner of McGahan and Marie avenues, near Mile 27 of the Kenai Spur Highway in Nikiski. For more information, call 776-8723.
