Pool available during school hours
The Soldotna High School pool has begun its new fall schedule. Pool hours and events are as follows: Morning lap swim from 6 to 8:30 a.m. and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday through Friday; evening lap swim from 6 to 7 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; and open swim from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Community choir rehearsals begin
The Kenai Peninsula Community Chorus is reforming to prepare for the Italy tour home concert in April. Community members interested in joining an adult choir are encouraged to attend the first rehearsal at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Homer High School choir room.
Rehearsals will be held Thursdays throughout the fall. There is a $100 class registration fee for music and instruction. For more information, call Laura Norton at 299-2453.
Basketball registration deadline looming
The registration deadline for the Boys and Girls Club high school basketball league is Friday. Practice begins Sept. 19 and games will go from Oct. 3 through Nov. 10. For more information, call 283-2682.
Kennel club agility trials slated
The Kenai Kennel Club will hold a three-day dog agility trial starting Saturday at the Kenai Little League Ballfield on South Spruce Street. The competition begins at 9 a.m. each day and generally wraps up about 3 p.m.
Spectators are encouraged to come and watch as handlers direct dogs around an obstacle course against the clock. Bring a chair and be prepared for the weather. Dogs not entered in the trial are not allowed on the grounds.
KKC also is gearing up for fall classes at its facility in the C Plaza in Kenai. Classes include agility, puppy kindergarten, basic, intermediate and advance obedience, rally and conformation. Sign-ups also are being taken for a Canine Good Citizen class.

AWG dancers, actors sought
Auditions for dancers and actors for the Arctic Winter Games opening and closing ceremonies will be at 10 a.m. Sept. 17 at the Renee C. Henderson Auditorium. Performers ages 13 and older should arrive early to complete audition forms. For more information, call Chris Morin at 283-7603.

Central Peninsula Health Centers Inc. is seeking applicants to serve on the nonprofit board of directors and board committees. The center primary constituency consist of individuals and families who have problems accessing affordable health care.
