It may have been a cool wet summer on the Kenai Peninsula, but the local real estate market has been experiencing global warming trends, according to Residential Mortgage Branch Manager Catherine Booth in Kenai. “We’ve re-opened our office as of July 20th in Kenai and the real estate industry here is going very well and we’ve been very busy,” said Booth. Residential’s motto is, “The best people make the best Company.”

Residential Mortgage, LLC is an Alaskan-owned mortgage company established in 1998 and currently has 8 offices statewide. “We are dedicated to professional home loan/multi-family financing. Our goal is to provide our clients with the support and personal attention they deserve. Our exceptional staff will lead you through the steps of your financial needs, while helping you achieve and maintain comfort and confidence throughout the process. We pride ourselves on having the ability to get the job done while building lasting relationships,” said Booth.

Booth cautions that the day of the internet has brought confusion and mistrust to the mortgage industry, “Anyone with access to the internet is barraged with the companies and come-ons, these companies are not able to consider the differences that Alaska has that the lower 48 does not. They also don’t analyze what is best for the borrowers needs; the internet companies analyze what’s best for them and how they can make the most money. What I like borrowers to do is come and look over the whole picture, exploring what they’re doing and where they want to go and come up with a plan and find the best loan program to get them there. We want to set people up for success so they’ll return when they are ready for their next home. I have truly seen some horror stories with folks that have done business with the internet companies and they had no idea what they were getting into. Our goal is to keep people out of trouble and the best part of my job is helping people get the right loan for their situation,” explained Booth.

While interest rates have risen, Booth feels it is still a great time to buy a house, “Six and a half isn’t as wonderful as it was a couple of years ago, but the cost of land and building continues to go up so it’s still a good time to buy. Six and a half might seem high but I’ve seen the days of sixteen and a half so it’s still a good time to buy.” Residential Mortgage LLC is located next to the IGA on Willow Street in Kenai across from Charlotte’s restaurant.
