The Kenai Kennel Club will hold a three-day dog agility trial starting Saturday at the Kenai Little League Ball Fields on South Spruce Street. The competition begins at 8 a.m. each day and generally wraps up about 3 p.m.
Spectators are encouraged to come and watch as handlers direct dogs around an obstacle course against the clock. Bring a chair and be prepared for inclement weather.
Dogs not entered in the trial are not allowed on the grounds.

The Soldotna High School pool hours will be morning lap swim from 6 to 8 a.m. Mondays through Fridays, evening lap swim from 6 to 7 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and open swim from 7 to 8:45 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Hospice of the Central Peninsula will conduct its 20 hour fall training course from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 20, 21, 23, 27 and 28 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 25 at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna.
Hospice volunteers help people who are facing terminal illness and coping with grief. The topics will be basic principles of hospice, educating and understanding the special needs of patients and their families, effective communication, spiritual and emotional care giving, understanding grief and loss.
No previous hospice experience is required, however, volunteers are asked to commit two to four hours a week for one year.
