Former Soldotna resident Lori Lee Freeman Konoske of Sitka died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, in Madison, Wis., after a battle with cancer, surrounded by her family and friends. She was 42.
A memorial service was held Friday, Aug. 27, at Mount Carroll United Methodist Church in Mount Carroll, Illinois.
Mrs. Konoske was born Jan. 3, 1968, to Lloyd and Nancy Freeman in Savanna, Ill. She graduated from Mount Carroll High School in 1986. She also graduated from Culver-Stockton College magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts in business administration. Lori was active in Sigma Kappa Sorority.
Mrs. Konoske began her professional banking career at National Bank of Alaska in 1990. She managed a variety of operations throughout the Interior and Southeast Alaska. She continued to work for the bank after the Wells Fargo transition. Her financial career spanned 20 years in Alaska.
Mrs. Konoske was very active in Girl Scouts. This, along with family camping trips, spurred her passion for the outdoors. She married Matthew Konoske on Oct. 28, 1995. They resided in Sitka with their Labs Gunner and Coogan. Together they enjoyed camping, hiking, kayaking and being out on the water with their dogs.
Lori enjoyed her life in Alaska and the strong friendships she made over the years and remained there until her death.
She especially loved sharing Alaskan adventures with her loved ones. Her niece, Maddie, brought Lori much joy.
Mrs. Konoske is survived by her husband, Matt Konoske; mother and father, Nancy and Lloyd Freeman; sister and niece Vicki and Madison Stauffer.
