Skyview topples Homer

Albert White racked up 202 yards receiving and three touchdowns as visiting Skyview beat Northern Lights Conference foe Homer 32-8 on Saturday. The Panthers improve to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the league. The Mariners fall to 1-3 and 0-2.

"It's a big conference win," Panthers head coach Eric Pomerleau said.

Quarterback Jordan Jones completed 13-of-31 passes for 244 yards and three touchdowns.

"We did some good things through the air," Pomerleau said. "We did so well. I'm so happy."

After a scoreless first quarter, Cody Williams took in a 1-yard run to give SkyHi a 7-0 lead. Jones then connected with White on a 70-yard pass 26 seconds before the half.

The Panthers took a 20-0 lead just before the third quarter ended when Jones and White hooked up for a 14-yard score. The two connected for a third time with 5:52 to play in the fourth on a 60-yard touchdown. Williams took a 22-yard run in with under a minute to play for his second score of the game.

Homer's lone touchdown was scored by Erik Rosencrans on a 24-yard pass from Ryan Cotney with 8:46 to play in the fourth.

Skyview's defensive line keyed the victory, Pomerleau said.

"They played fantastic," he said. "They played really physical up front."

Jordan McNamera and Jason Sounveri also had great games, Pomerleau said.

The front five had just as good a performance on offense as on defense.

"The O line was phenomenal," Pomerleau said. "They didn't give up a sack on 31 pass attempts, which is really impressive."

The Panthers take on undefeated Soldotna in Week 5.

"We have a huge test next week against SoHi," Pomerleau said. "Hopefully we can put together a good game and stay in the battle."

Bulldogs 30, Seahawks 8

Nikiski notched a Greatland Conference victory over host Seward on Saturday. The Bulldogs improve to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in the league. Seward falls to 1-3 and 1-2.

Kaden Spurgeon led Nikiski with two touchdowns.

Julien Harris broke open a scoreless game early in the second quarter. Stephen Hartley found the end zone at the 4:45 mark of the second and Sam Taylor added a field goal with 26 seconds to give Nikiski a 17-0 lead.

Spurgeon took a 5-yard run in with 10:32 to play in the third quarter. Seward's Beau Crosby scored the Seahawks' lone touchdown with under a minute to play. Spurgeon added his second touchdown at the 5:40 mark of the final quarter.
