North Peninsula chamber meets Thursday
The North Peninsula Chamber of Commerce has scheduled its weekly luncheon meeting for noon Thursday at the Lighthouse Inn in North Kenai. Members of the North Peninsula Community Council will be the featured speakers.
Health center closed Friday

First aid, CPR classes offeredP>
The American Red Cross is offering first aid and CPR classes in September. Those interested in updating first aid and CPR skills can register this week. Classes are scheduled for Saturday as well as Sept. 16.
Class fees vary. To register, call Debra Holle at 262-4541. Red Cross class fees are used to help families affected by disasters on the Kenai Peninsula.
Photography exhibit wraps up Sept. 8
The fourth-annual summer photography exhibition of the Kenai Peninsula Photographer's Guild will remain on display daily until Sept. 8 at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. The exhibit features 112 color and black and white photographs by 19 peninsula photographers. The Best of Show award ceremony is scheduled for the closing reception, set for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 8. For more information, call the visitors center at 283-1991.
Basketball league registration set
The Boys and Girls Club of the Kenai Peninsula has scheduled registration for its high school basketball league Sept. 6-8 from noon to 6 p.m. at the at the Kenai club. The season runs Oct. 2 through Nov. 11.
The cost is $46 for members and $66 for nonmembers and includes membership dues. For more information, call 283-2862.
Safari Club plans meeting
The Kenai Peninsula chapter of Safari Club International will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Don Jose's restaurant in Soldotna. It will not be a dinner meeting. Agenda topics include ballot Proposition 1 and the subsistence issue. For more information, call Keith Phillips at 776-5573.

Siren test scheduled for Sept. 7
The Kenai Peninsula Borough's Office of Emergency Management will conduct its monthly alert siren test at noon Sept. 7. The test consists of attack and alert tones. Tests are conducted on the first Thursday of each month. For more information, call 262-4910.
