ALLAKAKET (AP) -- A man was killed Wednesday in a single-vehicle accident in the Interior village of Allakaket, Alaska State Troopers said.
Brett Stevens, 33, of Bettles was a passenger in a pickup truck driven by 31-year-old Frederick Ned. Troopers said Ned was traveling at high speed when he tried to launch the truck across a 10-foot drop-off at the end of the village runway.
The truck struck the ground and flipped over. Stevens was thrown from the vehicle and the truck landed on him. Ned received minor injuries.
Investigators said Ned appeared to be intoxicated at the time.
