Local mothers take part in prayer rally

As part of a national rally, local members of Moms In Touch are hosting nationally known speaker Jan Shockey, at 10:30 a.m., Sept. 17, at the Soldotna Bible Chapel, 300 W. Marydale. Shockey, Pacific regional director of Moms In Touch International, will speak on "Building A Wall Of Prayer."

All mothers from churches from Nikiski to Homer to Seward are invited to the non-denominational prayer gathering. For information about MITI, call 1-800-949-MOMS.

'Mind of Christ' classes offered

"The Mind of Christ" will be presented by the Women's Bible Study of the First Baptist Church, 12815 Kenai Spur Highway, in Kenai, from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday. An evening class will also be conducted from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The sessions will include a discussion and a 30-minute video. Child care will be provided. For more information, call 283-7772.

Native outreach fellowship to meet

The North Wind Native Fellowship, a non-denominational Native outreach, will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 6 at Peninsula Grace Brethren Church, 44175 Kalifornsky Beach Road, Soldotna. The group meets every other Friday, and on every fourth gathering, conducts a Native potluck. A children's ministry is provided for children in fourth grade and under. Sept. 11 memorial service slated

Soldotna United Methodist Church will conduct a day of remembrance memorial service at 7 p.m. Sept. 11 at 158 S. Binkley.

The quiet, meditative candlelight service will include music and special readings. For information, call 262-4657.

Bible study groups planned

Precept Bible Study is currently studying Hebrews, Thursdays at 1 p.m. at the Soldotna Bible Chapel library.

Precept Bible Study will also study Hebrews on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. at Kasilof Community Church. For more information, call 283-9235.

Ministry offers 'Direct Line 2 God'

The New 2 U clothing ministry, a service ministry of the First Baptist Church of Soldotna, meets the first and third Saturday of every month. Part of the ministry includes a 12-hour-a-day, every day prayer ministry, "Direct Line 2 God." To participate in the ministry, call Joy at 262-0641.

Writers sought for faith anthology

Writers from Alaska are invited to share their own experiences of the power of prayer and faith in an anthology to be published in the latter half of 2003.

The anthology, "A Matter Of Faith," is being compiled by Arrowhead Publishing to provide examples of the positive power of prayer. Writers are invited to submit essays of up to 750 words that share their own experiences of how their faith has helped them meet major challenges in the journey through life.
