SMS open house planned

Soldotna Middle School will hold an open house from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. today at the school. Hot dogs, chips and juice for immediate family members will be available.

Parents will be able to follow their student's schedule, meet teachers and other staff members from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m.

Pray vigil scheduled

There will be a candlelight prayer vigil for David Allen at 7 p.m. Thursday at Kenai beach off of South Spruce Street. Allen is missing. Participants are asked to bring their own candles and chairs. There will be a campfire. For more information, call 283-3660.

Potluck, work day set

A barbecue potluck and work day for the Friendship Mission will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the mission on the Kenai Spur Highway. Meat and soft drinks will be provided. Participants are asked to bring a salad or dessert. For more information, call (907) 953-0693 or 953-0694.

Historical society to meet

The Kenai Historical Society will meet at 1 p.m. Sunday in the basement of the United Methodist Church of the New Covenant on the corner of the Kenai Spur Highway and Bluff Street. James Arness will be the featured speaker. For more information, call 283-7756.

Mountain View plans open house

Mountain View Elementary will host an open house Sept. 6. Parents will go directly to their child's classroom. The schedule is as follows; third grade from 5:30 to 6 p.m.; fourth grade from 5 to 5:30 p.m.; fifth grade from 6 to 7 p.m.; and fifth grade band meeting from 7 to 7:30 p.m.

KDLL seek board members

KDLL Pickle Hill Public Broadcasting has two seats open on its board of directors. The seats are filled by appointment. To be eligible you must be a KDLL members for at least six months. For more information, call 283-8433.
