Library open house set

Joyce K. Carver Memorial Library in Soldotna is hosting an open house from noon to 5 p.m. Friday in honor of employee Kitty Galley, who has worked at the library for 16 years and is relocating.

The public is invited, and refreshments will be served.

Rec center offers home school hour

The Kenai Recreation Center will offer home school hour from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Fridays starting Sept. 6. The fee is $1 per child.

Tot Time will be available from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays beginning Tuesday.

Driver safety class offered

AARP will hold a drivers safety class from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 15 and from 2 to 6 p.m. Sept. 16. The cost is $10 for materials. It is open to the public.

Youth basketball registration begins

The Boys and Girls Club of the Kenai Peninsula is taking registration for start smart basketball for children ages 3 to 5 and their parents.

The six-week class will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturdays beginning Sept. 23. the cost is $50.

Participants must be current Boys and Girls Cub members. Junior memberships coast $10. For more information, call 283-2682.
