Governor's influence inappropriate
Until this week, I had never witnessed a politician at any level advertising themselves for sale in the media. Not even Frank Murkowski did that. However, all that changed this week, when Sarah Palin sold her name as governor of our great state to the Alaska mining industry on Ballot Measure 4.
Clean water, mining battle isn't over
Voters did not decide mining over fish. The mining companies, the state, and all who support the mine claim that fishing and mining can co-exist. Gov. Sarah Palin has even specifically said that she will not support the mine if it affects the salmon fishery in a negative way.
Dirty efforts appreciated
I would like to thank all of those who participated in the 2008 Mud Run Challenge. It was a great success and we had almost 50 mud runners this year. A huge thank you goes out to Danger Pig for providing us with live music. They did a fantastic job.
Bear possibilities offered
I think it is despicable that a bear has to be killed for being a bear and some stupid person is fined only $300. Is this what the life of a bear is worth?

Bird Homestead Golf Report: Birthday tourney a blast
It was a birthday to match most birthdays! A fun day with beautiful weather and two of the greatest people on the peninsula. Elmer and Pat Bird both have birthdays in August, so in accordance the association puts on the Bird Birthday Appreciation Tournament. This year we had 14 people out for this event.
