ANCHORAGE (AP) -- The state medical examiner has determined that a Homer woman died of head injuries after falling and hitting her head.

Diane Wambach, 44, was found a week ago lying unconscious by the side of East End Road, after she went out to walk her horses, Alaska State Troopers said. Wambach was taken to Homer Hospital, then transferred to Providence Alaska Medical Center, where she died Monday, according to troopers.

Wambach's husband, 49-year-old Robert Wambach, told troopers his wife never rode the horses when she walked them. Doctors however were doubtful that she could have fallen hard enough to injure herself.

No foul play is suspected, troopers said.
