Joseph 'Chad' VanVolkenburg

Seldovia resident Joseph "Chad" VanVolkenburg died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, in Seldovia. He was 17.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Seldovia Bible Chapel. Pastor Tim Volstad will officiate. Burial will follow services at the Seldovia City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Bond, Jim VanVolkenburg, Chris Bond, Dan Bond, Steve Bond and Milan Galey.

Chad was born Oct. 13, 1982, in Soldotna but resided in Seldovia most of his life. He was a junior at the Susan B. English School in Seldovia. Chad had worked at the Mad Fish Restaurant for the summer of 2000. He was a member of the Future Focus, a community service-oriented group.

The family wrote, "Chad had a big heart and a usually quiet disposition. He had a quick wit and loved being with his friends. He will be missed by us all, more than words can say."

Chad is survived by his parents, Randy and Mary Bond, both of Seldovia; brothers, Chris and Dan Bond of Seldovia and Jim VanVolkenburg of Kenai; sisters, Cheryl Tabious-Moonin of Anchorage and Tracy VanVolkenburg of Seldovia; aunts and uncles Milan and Ann Galey of Kenai, Steve and Sharon Bond of Seldovia, Dale Ann and Ray Waterbury of Seldovia; cousins Rena and Zach Galey and Casey Bond and many other relatives in Washington and Oregon.

Arrangements were made by the Homer Funeral Home.
