Anchorage resident Betty Mae Hybarger Augustson died Monday, Aug. 20, 2001, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage. She was 78.
A memorial service was held Aug. 24 at the Sterling Senior Citizen Center with Rev. James Pearson officiating.
Mrs. Augustson was born May 19, 1923, in Linsey, Okla., and moved to Alaska in January 1964. She had been a resident of Eagle River and Sterling before moving to Anchorage.
She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary, Sterling Senior Citizens Center and the Anchorage Senior Citizens Center.
Mrs. Augustson enjoyed quilting, sewing and reading.
Her family said, "Betty will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends. She will be fondly remembered for beautiful quilts and her various other crafts."
She is survived by her husband, Leslie G. Augustson, of Anchorage; daughter and son-in-law, Diann and Vasco Avila, of Hanford, Calif.; daughters Vickie Fant and Nora Victory, both of Anchorage; son, John Augustson of Salt Lake City, Utah; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by Evergreen Memorial Chapel, Anchorage.
