Katherine Lee Kornelis and Michael Paul Wyman were married Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, in an early evening ceremony at Sunset Ridge Church in San Antonio, Texas.
The bride is the daughter of Keith and Mary Lee Kornelis of Kenai. She graduated summa cum laude from Trinity Univ-ersity in San Antonio in 1999 and earned her master of science degree in accounting from Trinity in 2000. She is a certified public accountant.
The groom is the son of Lt. Col. (ret.) Frank and Angela Wyman of Chan-tilly, Va. He graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1998 with a degree in mechanical engineering and is a captain in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He sever four years at Brooks Air Force Base in San Antonio, where he was program manager. He now works at Patuxent River Naval Air Warfare Center in Maryland.
Friends and relatives of the bride and groom traveled for 18 states to attend the wedding, which was officiated by Chaplain Gary Coburn. Readings were given by Barbara Wolfe, the bride's aunt, and Stephanie Rollizo, a friend of the groom.
Serving as the bride's maid of honor was Rachel Grant. The bridesmaids were Susan Herman, Shahpar Ali, Melissa Johnson, Natalie Luna and Danielle Velentzas, sister of the groom.
The groom's best man was Peter Mina. The groomsmen were Thad Amundson, Ivan Herman and James Piatt. Serving as ushers were Constantine Velentzas, the groom's brother-in-law, and Kyle Kornelis, brother of the bride. Kyle escorted his and the bride's grandmothers, Mrs. William R. Wolfe Jr. and Mrs. Thomas Kornelis on each arm.
The bride entered on the arm of her father. In her shoe she wore the same lucky sixpence her mother had worn in her wedding more than 30 years ago.
After the ceremony, a reception was held in the Crystal Ballroom of the Old San Francisco Restaurant. The couple enjoyed a honeymoon in St. Lucia and now resides in Great Mills, Maryland.
